Fatigue is not the same as regular tiredness from physical activity or lack of sleep, and it’s often poorly understood by friends, family, colleagues and even medical professionals. If you’re suffering with fatigue, you’ll feel exhausted, even though you may have been sleeping a lot. You may have difficulties concentrating, memory issues, brain-fog and feel achy in your muscles and joints, especially at night. Chronic fatigue can have various causes: it could be an intolerance to certain foods in your diet, parasites, environmental toxins, chronic stress or a more serious underlying condition. There may be other symptoms that you are experiencing that would help identify, and so treat, the root issue. One of the most common causes of fatigue is post-viral fatigue. This is when your immune system has successfully fought off a virus, but left you and your body completely depleted afterwards. Sometimes, the virus has gone dormant deep in the cells of your body, and your immune system is exhausted from trying to keep it there and not allow it to get activated again and make you ill. It’s using all your available energy to keep your body functioning and free from disease.This is why some people with chronic-fatigue say they haven’t really felt well ever since they had a particular illness. Sometimes that’s years ago, and ever since they have been tired and maybe also immune compromised. Common viral illnesses that trigger post-viral fatigue are Epstein barr and various herpes group viruses, enterovirus, influenza and pneumonia, recently, Corona virus and covid-19.

Treating the fatigue involves first finding the underlying cause.
